Cette plante rampante des marais peut produire de grandes fleurs jaunes brillantes, g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement sur des tiges verticales atteignant 2 m\u00e8tres de hauteur, bien que ces tiges soient moins ramifi\u00e9es. La plante se propage gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des racines creuses et couch\u00e9es. Les premi\u00e8res feuilles qui \u00e9mergent sont plus ou moins r\u00e9niformes, tandis que les feuilles-tiges sont allong\u00e9es. Apr\u00e8s la floraison, de petits ak\u00e8nes \u00e0 bec court sont produits. Elle pr\u00e9f\u00e8re pousser en plein soleil, dans un sol humide et relativement fertile ou dans une eau peu profonde.
