This in de bottom-soil rooting pond-plant grows with floating leaves on long stems and is endemic in the warm waters of South- and East-Asia. With the species the flowers mostly are pinkish-white. It is the sacred flower of Hindus and Buddhists. The leaves may measure up to 60 cm diam., the stems can reach 1m m and more. The brilliant white flowers with their pepper-box-like heart open in the morning in the sunlight. They stick out a little over the leaves on sturdy stems. De plant grows out of extending root-stocks which must be kept frostfree during winter. By a special nano-structure water and dirt don’t cling to the leaves.
