A very decorative Club-rush variety because of the green cylindrical leafstems which show horizontal yellowish-white bands. In summer the red-brown flowers appear in loose spikes at the leaf-tops. They stay on till deep in autumn. The plant prefers a sunny place, but tolerates some shade and grows well in shallow water and in fertile pond-soil. This variety hardly shows any rampant growth. With older leaves the white banding gets less obvious. Perfectly winter-hardy.
