The water plantain is a aquatic plant that thrives in water 20-25cm (8-9in) deep, Its lance shaped grey/green leaves that are heart shaped at the base can grow to 30cm (12in) long above the water. The cluster of purplish pink flowers are produced on stems up to 60cm tall.
