This short, variegated, semi-evergreen grass likes moist to wet circumstances, is sometimes considered to be a pond-plant (shore, shallow water) and grows clump-forming with yellow variegated, green-speckled, narrow, stalkless leaves. The flowers are inconspicuous (small flowers on a spadix). After flowering berries may be formed. This variety is from Japan, the species is known from China too. For sun to light shade. Does hardly need any care. Moderately winter-hardy.
