This tall pond-edge plant from the southeastern USA tolerates frost till –7 °C, but should survive during more fierce frosts in deeper water or light and cool inside. The splendid, green, broad-oval pointed leaves (40 cm tall) appear on up to 150 cm long stalks. In a sunny spot they develop a bluish-green hue. The spikes with blue-purple flowers will tower far over them during summer. This plant asks for a nutritious (heavy) soil and grows best in a roomy container or basket in the pond-edge. Put is as sunny as possible.
